Magdalena Szczebiot-Murawska
Magdalena Szczebiot-Murawska is a Polish composer, violist, and music producer specializing in film, game, and multimedia music. Her recent success includes co-composing the soundtrack for the American-Libyan documentary My Father and Qaddafi, which premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and won awards at Doha Film Festival (Best Documentary) and Marrakech Film Festival (Jury Prize ex-aequo).
She also co-composed and produced the song „REBELS!” for the feature film Psoty (2026).
Selected twice for Film Music Composition Workshops led by Oscar winner Jan A.P. Kaczmarek and nominated Paweł Mykietyn. She has scored works including the Danish video game Tectonicus and numerous short films.
Her folk-inspired composition Skorbnaja Mati reached the semifinals of the International Songwriting Competition from 18,000 entries and has been performed internationally, including at BIWAKO Biennale in Japan.She blends classical instrumentation with electronic textures, drawing from her background in classical performance and Eastern European folk traditions.

As a composer, she specializes in music for film, games, and multimedia projects. She composed the soundtrack for the Danish historical video game Tectonicus (2023), combining cinematic and folk-inspired sound worlds. In 2020 and 2024, she was selected for the prestigious Film Music Composition Workshops led by Oscar winner Jan A.P. Kaczmarek and Oscar nominee Paweł Mykietyn. During the workshops, she scored short films including Wskrzeszenie (Resurrection) and Jagody (Berries).
Her work Skorbnaja Mati (Hurt), a reinterpretation of a traditional folk lament, reached the semifinals of the 2019 International Songwriting Competition out of 18,000 global entries. She has also created original compositions such as Wybrzmiewa (Resonates, 2021), an instrumental piece for string quartet and electronics under the patronage of Polish Radio Białystok, and the audiovisual project Triptych: Beksiński Untitled, inspired by the haunting imagery of Zdzisław Beksiński.
In 2024, together with Zagi and Agnieszka Pokorska (Belmuza), she composed and recorded the indie song „chaos”. That same year, she composed the soundtrack for a promotional film about participatory budgeting initiatives, commissioned by the „Twoja Przyszłość” (Your Future) Foundation. She contributes music to numerous student films (including Cały tata (Just Like Dad) by Oskar Wrona and Połów (The Catch) by Damian Perzanowski). She co-composed and co-produced the song „REBELS!” for the film Psoty (Pranks, 2026).
In 2016, she initiated, researched traditional songs, and produced and arranged the album Echo, featuring folk songs from the Podlasie region and the Eastern Borderlands arranged for string quartet.
She has arranged and recorded string parts for numerous artists, including ZAGI, Anto9 („Na haju w maj”), OS.SO, YouTube channel Dzikie Ucho, Yann Cleary, and others.
Her compositions based on Podlasie folk songs have been performed in Poland and internationally, including by ReVerb Ensemble at the BIWAKO Biennale in Japan (Skorbnaja Mati) and the Vilnius String Quartet at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, as well as by Etnosomnia at the „Kolory Polski” (Colors of Poland) festival.
As a performer, she has collaborated with artists including Plácido Domingo, Josh Groban, Avi Avital, Justyna Steczkowska, Zbigniew Wodecki, Janusz Radek, Varius Manx, Perfect, and Edyta Bartosiewicz.
From 2021 till 2024, she has been collaborating with the Sybir Memorial Museum in Białystok as the music director of the Sybir Remembrance All Souls’ Day concerts, for which she creates original musical arrangements.
She has received multiple national grants and awards, including a scholarship from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, a scholarship from the Marshal of the Podlaskie Voivodeship, and four Artist Scholarships from the Mayor of Białystok.
She is a composer and performer in the crossover quartet Etnosomnia. In 2025, the album JIDZIE BURZO! was released by the DUX label, recorded with Etnosomnia at the invitation of the Łódź Philharmonic Choir.
Her most recent success is co-creating the soundtrack for the American-Libyan film My Father and Qaddafi, which had its world premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in 2025. The collaboration came about through her participation in Sync Camp in Zakopane in 2025.
As a classically trained musician, she has performed in musicals, opera, popular and classical concerts, as well as numerous studio and film music recordings. These experiences shaped her versatility and discipline as an artist. She blends diverse music genres with the classical timbres of viola and violin.
She discovered her passion for film scoring later in her career, but her strong musical background greatly enriches her creative work. She is currently working on her debut instrumental album, which will be released in 2026.
